An American girl in Lancaster

the life and times of an American twenty something in the United Kingdom.

I also admit to posting things that I find especially funny, touching, etc. Some of them are my own finding, many are rebloggings, but welcome to my world. Hi, I'm Mallory.

  • Scarlet: (from tub) I'm pretending like I'm Ariel and giving mermaid lessons.
  • Me: I used to pretend to be Ariel when I was in the bath too.
  • Scarlet: I like mermaids. They're my favorite animal.
  • Me: I don't know if mermaids really classify as animals.
  • Scarlet: Fine then, unicorns are.

So I might have cut my hair really short for the first time in 14 years (Taken with instagram)

Looks Familiar……..

I want this in my house.

I feel like I’ve been here a week, but really it’s only been 36 hours. Goodness the time has gone quickly. I am EXHAUSTED.

So, before I left, Drew and I decided that stay awake all night. We figured that if I didn’t sleep the night before, I would sleep on the plane. This is a brilliant plan in theory. And as far as I’m concerned, it would totally work. Except it didn’t. Epic fail. I was awake for all but an hour of my 11 hours in airplanes. So, not only was I beyond tired when I left Manchester, but I was super extra tired when I landed in Houston.

But, the excitement of being home, Mexican food and OU football kept me awake until about 9:30 (3:30 am England time). I think I did pretty well considering I’d been awake for 42 hours straight at that point. Then, I crashed. Until 7am. This happened when I came home over Christmas, too. I struggle to sleep past 8 am (2pm) no matter what time I actually go to bed for a week or two. Last night I made it until midnight (6am) before I went to sleep.

Yesterday I went shopping with Mandy and Courtney. It was a ton of fun. We just walked around Willowbrook mall for a while before we went to BJ’s. I wasn’t eating dinner, I was meeting my parents for sushi whenever my dad finished on the golf course, but it was nice to enjoy a drink with the girls while they ate. Then we headed to Target to buy a few necessities before I met up with the padres.

Yesterday was a good day. Today includes a trip to American Apparel, stopping by my dad’s office to give him stuff he needs or something, and then taking my GRE assessment test before my kaplan class starts. *Joy*

I don’t know what I’ll call my blog from now on, but I’ll let you know eventually. In the mean time, I’m glad to be home and I miss England, too. Text me people - it’s my same number from before.

So, until the next time, ta ta for now.
